PT Amoco Mitsui PTA Indonesia (hereafter called 'AMI') is a newly formed joint venture between Amoco Chemical and Mitsui, which produce Purified Teraphthalic Acid (PTA) from its plant in Cilegon, West Java, Indonesia.

After assisting AMI with the SAP R/3 healthy project for SAP Basis training and archiving activities,

Magnus was hired by AMI for the upgrade from SAP R/3 version 3.0E to Release 4.6C. The functional scope for this project entails Finance, Controlling, Materials Management, Sales & Distribution, Plant Maintenance, Projects Systems and Quality Management.

Magnus supported Amoco Mitsui in 2 projects. First project was the Data Archiving project. The objective of the project was to maintain the reasonable amount of transactional data in SAP. Magnus works shoulder to shoulder with the internal team of Amoco that was succesfully finished in 3 months. The deliverables and activities covered the documentation on the archiving conceptual and detail design, knowledge transfer and the archiving workshop. The second project was the SAP Upgrade project from 3.0E to 4.6C that has been successfully finished in 3 months.

BASF (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (BMS) is part of a multinational conglomerate, with its headquarters in Germany. Their strategic business units (SBUs) cover chemicals, coatings and colorants, consumer products and life science, polymers and fibre products.

BASF (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (BMS) implemented SAP R/3 as part of a regional project. A regional design approach was followed. The actual system was also centralized in Singapore for BASF companies in the Asia-Pacific.

Magnus has helped BASF Malaysia in the following:

  • Conducting a prolonged AS-IS analysis to ascertain deviations from the regional Asian template defined
  • Implementing SAP R/3 for core areas like Finance, Controlling, Sales & Distribution, Materials Management, and Production Planning
  • Project management and providing the Magnus Magian Methodology to facilitate the implementation.

Hoechst Hoechst

Hoechst assigned Feasibility Studies, Project Implementations and Support Services in Malaysia, Singapore (Hoechst Singapore Pte. Ltd. and Hoechst Acetyls Singapore), Thailand and Hong Kong.

In each country a pilot project was followed by a roll-out to all Hoechst subsidiaries.

Hoechst, a global producer of chemical products, enlisted Magnus for a Wall-to-wall ERP implementation, covering the following functional areas:

  • Controlling, incl. Product Costing
  • Asset Management

  • Production Planning
  • Quality Management

The pilot project was followed by a roll-out to all Hoechst subsidiaries. This project was the first SAP R/3 Thai version implementation in Thailand. The project went successfully live Q2 2000.

Hoechst Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of Hoechst AG, has been involved in the business of trading industrial, agricultural and medical products since its establishment on 1967.

Based on the corporate direction, SAP R/3 was implemented to all Hoechst subsidiaries, worldwide.

Magnus was given the assignment to implement SAP R/3 for Hoechst Malaysia in two phases:

  • Phase 1- Financials - FICO
  • Phase 2- Logistics - SD, MM and PP

After the successful completion of the project, Magnus was then assigned to do a feasibility study for SAP implementations in most Hoechst Companies in Asia.

Hoechst Acetyls Singapore Hoechst Acetyls Singapore

Hoechst Acetyls Singapore is a manufacturing site built by Hoechst Celanese to cater for the sales demands of the Asian region.

Acetyls requested Magnus to assist them in the implementation of SAP R/3 during the time that the factory was being built so that both systems and factory could be operational at the same time.

  • Project System
  • Asset Management

Hoechst Singapore Pte. Ltd implemented SAP R/3 as a result of an earlier Asian feasibility study conducted by Magnus.

The objective of the project was to replace their old Comettop application by the fully integrated on-line, real-time SAP R/3 system.

The project scope included the main SAP modules in finance and logistics areas, namely, Financial Accounting, Controlling, Material Management and Sales and Distribution.

Magnus implemented a SAP sub-con role for full scope SAP 4.6C IS-Oil implementation, involving SAP modules FI, CO, MM, SD, IS-OIL, PM, PS.

Magnus was also involved in PM, PS, MM, and IS Oil team lead role

The current TeamSAP engagement started end of Q2-2002. The expected go-live date for Phase 1 is Q2-2003.
